Seminyak, get to know the fanciest town on Bali

Seminyak is the place to be if you are planning a holiday of fun, style and great cuisine. It is actually similar to the nearby village Kuta, but here the visitors are willing to spend a little bit more to receive more quality.

On top of that it is a very popular town for foreigners living in Bali, so their influences can be found back in the large number of well-known restaurants and shops that offer Western standard goods.

Like its surrounding neighbors, this stylish village used to be a regular quiet Balinese village too. However once the large numbers of visitors had exceeded the capacity level of Kuta; shops, restaurants and hotels started to move northwards along the coast.

From Kuta to Legian, tourism eventually passed Seminyak and is now heading more northwards towards Canggu, where today dozens of villas are popping up everywhere each month...

Seminyak is able to stand out from other villages because of its trendy restaurants which is accompanied with an abundance of Bali luxury villas. Despite the large numbers today restaurants and villas are still being built everywhere; each one being more fancier and modern than the other.

This is the place where your mouth will occasionally drop wide open because of the amazing style, luxury and beauty...

Here restaurants are beautifully set along the beach, such as La Luciola and Ku De Ta. Others (the Livingroom and the Sarong for example) have an amazing interior that together with the food attracts the crowd. These restaurants are so popular that they are all fully booked every evening.

So make sure you reserve a table if you plan to dine in style...

After dinner, the night-scene continues till early in the morning. The super trendy Hu'U and Ku Deta organize parties regularly where expats and travelers can enjoy the warm tropical night while dancing away...

During the day the shop-alcoholics among us can go up and about as this is the place in Bali for fashionable clothing and accessories. Compared to other villages, you can find more western styled things here of better quality. Additionally the number of souvenir shops does not dominate and as a result there is a trendier and stylish atmosphere...

Of course there is more to do then just eating, shopping, partying and spending your days in a grand villa. Well actually not much more...

Another thing that you can do is visit the spa and like all the other things mentioned above, the spas here are also more luxurious then the surrounding villages. Service, interior and the extra details makes the experience more exquisite and of course more expensive. But then again, we are on a holiday aren't we?

For many people on a holiday their favourite place is the beach. Well, Seminyak has a nice clean beach where you can doze off the whole day on the rental or hotel-guests only beach-chairs. Be careful with swimming though because there are a lot of unexpected currents that can pull you down.

So keep an eye on the colour of the flags that are placed at the beach…

If you want to do other things besides dinning, shopping and sunbathing then you have to go on day trips to the surrounding areas because basically this little village is just a fancy hub of fun, relaxation, luxury and pleasures...So a place just to be and enjoy your well deserved holiday.

If that is all you need then now you know where to go... by Matt Verbaan
